The Elks Club in Holyoke Ma. was the place to be September 13th.  This was the first annual Half Way To St. Patty’s Day race for our city.  IMG_0017

And guess what number I got to wear?

Yes, this was our first attempt to not wait an entire year between St. Patrick’s Day races to enjoy a great race.

Due to the awesome efforts of Brian Donoghue and Jim Wildman, our committee was able to create a great new event.  And, although mother nature was threatening us with rain (it actually sprinkled during the singing of the Star Spangled Banner before the gun sounded), we  had an unbelievable day.  800 runners and dry weather til about 2 hours after the last runner finished allowed fun to be had by all.

Read all about it and see some pictures of the beginning of a new tradition in the next few entries.
