I have written many, many times about how special volunteers are. Without them there would be no races. And they do it with a smile no matter what you and I may ask of them.
Sheila was one of the first volunteers I talked with after arriving. She was in charge of the water stops. Quite important to a race in 90 degree heat. She asked the race director, Mac, very specific questions pertaining to the water and was making sure everything was in place and available.
Karen, amongst other things, has the same spot during registration that I have at some of the races I help put on. She’s a greeter and a director. With a great smile she fields runners questions and directs them to the places they are looking for.
Laura was there representing the Power Bar maker. She, along with many other venders were handing out free products and taking care of all the runners.
These 5 volunteers giving out the awards are excited, enthusiastic and always encouraging others. Â
