I totally look forward to this time every year when it comes to races. In my opinion one of the best running events in April (except for the Boston Marathon) is the entire day of racing in Groton, Ma.. I don’t usually go to a race more than one time. The reason for this is that I love to use running as a way to visit new places and meet new people. I enjoy going 25 or so new places each year. I do, however, have 3-4 races that I not only do every year but I look forward to them. And this is absolutely one of them.
This past Sunday was my 5th trip to the Groton-Dunstable Middle School. The reason is the atmosphere and up lifting nature of the entire event and day. It was put together to give families, casual  and serious runners a great place to go and enjoy together.   Â
From the live music almost all day to the great food spread and everything in between. They have it all. There are races for ages 1-year-old and up. Toddler races with their age brackets, a 2k which has a great mix of runners, a 5k and a 10k.Â
This year it fell during the first truly nice weekend of the year weather wise, which made the day that much brighter. I feel you need to come and experience the whole day to appreciate what a true treasure this Groton race/family day has to offer.Â
I have 2 more entries after this one about the day, so read them. But, come here next year and experience why you need to keep coming back and why this is one of very few I make time for every year.
